Trees - Application to carry out work
Monitoring of works to trees in conservation areas, and trees belonging to the Council.
Under section 211 of the Town and Country Planning Act, prior notification is required of works to trees in conservation areas. Advice is given to the public on this matter.
All Council owned trees are treated as if a tree preservation order was in force, and proposals for works are assessed.
Consideration of need for making of Tree Preservation Orders under Section 198 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, making of orders and response to enquiries. The Council can make Orders to regulate works to trees of significant amenity value. Consideration is given to cases where trees may be lost to development, or where members of the public are concerned about specific threats. Many enquiries are received from members of the public re the existence of orders and their implications.
